Brake linings (or shoe) are what contacts the brake fin on a vehicle to provide a stopping force. For steel brake fins, a solid brass material is used. For a fin for magnetic brakes a woven material is used.

The material and the size of the brake determine what part is needed. There are 4 pieces in a set per brake.
